300th Anniversary of the Regius Chair in History

The Oxford History Faculty is looking forward to celebrating the 300th anniversary of the founding of the Regius Chair in 1724.

George I established two Regius Chairs in History, one at Oxford and one at Cambridge.

On Friday June 7, the History Faculty will commemorate the foundation of our chair with a half-day event, What is History Now?

The schedule for the day is as follows:

2.00pm What is History Now? Session of Speakers
3.30pm History Showcase: Ways of Doing History
4.55pm Cutting of Birthday Cake
5.15pm Changing History: Round Table

There will be a Plenary Session on new approaches to history, break-out groups, and a concluding Plenary Round Table, ‘Changing History: The Regius Chair, the Faculty and Public History’.

The Regius Lyndal Roper and the Steering Group look forward to welcoming you to an exciting event!
