Equality and Diversity
The University of Oxford is committed to fostering an inclusive culture which promotes equality, values diversity and maintains a working, learning and social environment in which the rights and dignity of all its staff and students is respected. More information can be found at: Equality and Diversity | Oxford University Jobs and Equality Charters.
As part of the wider University of Oxford commitment to equality and valuing diversity, the Faculty of History is committed to creating an environment in which everyone – at every academic level from undergraduate to professor, and among professional and support staff, regardless of background and identity – can fulfil their potential. The Faculty of history holds a bronze Athena Swan award to recognise advancement of gender equality: representation, progression and success for all.
As part of our commitment to the Athena Swan charter, the Faculty of History has recently communicated a Statement of Values which under pins it’s commitment to equality and diversity and the Athena Swan charter. The Faculty’s Bronze Award recognises the work we have begun to do, but importantly commits us to a range of actions which we hope will make us a more diverse and equal community.
Location
The Faculty is located in the Old Boys’ High School, George Street. This is a very central location, less than 10 minutes’ walk from the rail station, and very close to bus station, shops and other University locations. The premises house a community of around 20 administrative staff and up to 30 other users, comprising doctoral students, researchers, and academics and professors. The building is also used for teaching and seminars.
Research
With the size of its History Faculty, its lively and varied research seminars and the major resources for research, which include, among others, the outstanding collections of the Bodleian Library and the University museums, Oxford offers a uniquely attractive research environment.
Benefits
