Research Topic
Imperialism and the British Left, 1918 - 1959
I am a DPhil student in History working on imperialism and the British left between 1918 and 1959. I am examining the extent to which the left was able to accommodate imperialist values during a period of growing anticolonial resistance, and how leftist imperialism was articulated. More broadly, my research interests include empire, nationhood, citizenship and identity.
My doctoral research is supported by Nuffield College. Prior to the DPhil, I completed an MA in Global and Colonial History at Leiden University. I also hold a BA in Modern European Languages and History from Durham University.
