Currently serving as an AfOx-TORCH Visiting Fellow at the History Faculty’s Centre for the History of Science, Medicine and Technology (with Professor Erica Charters as host), alongside my role as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Geography at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria.

My area of specialization lies in medical/health geography, focusing particularly on disease mapping, spatial epidemiology, spatial demography, and global health. Presently, my research is centred on the geography of pandemics in Africa, with a specific emphasis on COVID-19.

During my time at Oxford, my aim is to deconstruct what I term the ‘African COVID-19 Paradox.’ This involves identifying the various competing explanations for this pandemic puzzle - why was Africa the least affected by the virus? - and examining how it might challenge and reshape Western-centric notions of Africa and global health.
