Research Topic
I am a DPhil student in History at Nuffield College, Oxford. I have completed my B.A. in History (First class honours, 2019) and my M.A. in History (Distinction, 2023) at the University of Montreal. My research project focuses on the colonial experiences of refugees during World War II in the British Empire following the Japanese invasion of Southeast Asia. It aims to contribute to research on the ties between imperialism, colonialism, and human rights. It proposes, in particular, to undertake a more comprehensive and discerning analysis of the displacement of persons during World War II to understand how such refugee movements underpinned the development of human rights and international relief. I also work as a Research Assistant for the Changing Global Orders Programme of the Oxford Martin School.
My doctoral studies at Oxford are supervised by Prof. Andrew Thompson and are co-funded by the Open-Oxford-Cambridge AHRC DTP and the Clarendon Fund Scholarship.
