Nonconformists and their Pasts: The Historical Construction of Dissenting Identities in the British Atlantic World, 1660-1714
Supervisors: Dr Grant Tapsell and Dr George Southcombe
My primary interests lie in the political, religious, and intellectual history of Early Modern Europe and the British Atlantic. I am particularly interested in the later seventeenth century, and in the 'politics of memory' more generally. My doctoral thesis combines these interests by attempting to reconstruct the historical consciousness of Protestant Nonconformists in the later Stuart period.
I am a committee member of the Oxford Centre for Intellectual History. Please get in touch if you would like to be involved with the CIH.
My research is generously funded by the Dacre Trust and New College, Oxford.
I graduated with a BA in History from Corpus Christi College, Oxford, in 2021, and completed an MSt in Early Modern History at Somerville College, Oxford, in 2022.
