My thesis title is 'Domesday after Domesday: the use and re-use of the Domesday archive after 1086'. It identifies and discusses the various ways in which the texts produced during 1086 were used and transmitted thereafter. In doing so, I am trying to understand the way in which writing was used to negotiate inter-institutional conflict and engender corporate identity in post-Conquest England.
