Research Topic
Law and Justice from Constantine to Justinian
My Research focusses on the development of Late Roman Law. The project seeks to explore how patristic authors reworked classical concepts of justice, and how this change was realised in areas of legislation in the newly Christianised empire.
I am also interested in both the real practice of law in Late Antiquity, and the rise of ecclesiastical law and the increasingly legal presentation of church dogma and hierarchy.
