War and Its Means: The Interrelation of Logistics and Operations for the Early Modern British Army
Supervisor: Peter Wilson
My research focusses on the two-way connection between military operations and military logistics. With rare exceptions, historians of war have either ignored logistics or, by focusing on state capacity, treated logistics in isolation. My goal is to integrate the study of logistics and state formation with the study of military operations. Specifically, I am looking at the British army in the Low Countries (modern Belgium and the Netherlands) between 1688 and 1748.
